Why Trust Biblical Counseling of Arizona?

by Joe Leavell

A Familiar Trend

Before the housing bubble burst in 2007, it seemed like everyone was a realtor, and buying or selling real estate was the norm. I realized the market was oversaturated when I received an unexpected phone call from someone I barely knew from college, in a different state, nearly a decade earlier. We had only briefly attended the same church, but he called to “catch up” before quickly asking if I was interested in buying a house.

Fast forward to 2025, and a new occupation is dominating the landscape: counselors and therapists. Why? Our culture continues to drift further from the biblical framework that once undergirded society. As we move away from scriptural norms, mental health challenges are on the rise, and the demand for care is growing exponentially.

A Cultural Shift: Therapy as a Status Symbol

The result of this shift is striking. Where seeking a “shrink” was once taboo, having a counselor or therapist is now akin to hiring a personal trainer at the gym. Among young people, especially, regular therapy is seen as an important way to fit in and gain empathy from their peers. Ongoing sessions with a mental health professional have become a cultural norm.

Yet, with this rise in demand comes a critical question that individuals, families, and churches alike are asking: Who can you trust?

The Challenge: Finding Trustworthy Care

These cultural changes have made it challenging for families to find biblically qualified help. Not all counseling is equally helpful, and some therapists may even undermine a Christian’s faith. It has also been difficult for churches to find faith-based, Christ-centered counseling organizations with whom they can partner.

At Biblical Counseling of Arizona, we understand the importance of aligning soul-care with God’s design through Gospel-centered biblical truth.

Our Commitment: Christ-Centered Counseling

BCA has been serving churches and families in the Phoenix area for ten years now — far longer than the current mental health trend. Our counselors are experienced, certified, and highly trained. They are driven not by business opportunities but by a passion to serve and bless Christ’s kingdom. We didn’t enter counseling because it’s trendy; we counsel because we are committed to bringing Christ’s healing to the broken and hurting.

Our hope is to earn the trust and partnership of families and churches by providing biblical counseling to you and those in your care.
